Call for nominations – 2021 UIA Rule of Law Award in cooperation with LexisNexis

The call for nominations for the 2021 UIA Rule of Law Award in cooperation with LexisNexis is open until September 1, 2021.

The award was established to recognize individuals and/or organisations that contribute actively to the development and promotion of the Rule of Law at the national, regional or international level, particularly within the legal community.

Nominations can be submitted until September 1, 2021 through the official nomination form in English, French, or Spanish, and by including at least one letter of recommendation. Self-nominations are not accepted.

All the nominees:

  • Must be lawyers, judges, bar associations or lawyers’ organisations, or eminent legal organisations practicing in the public or private sector;
  • Must have made significant, recent, and peaceful contributions to promote the Rule of Law;
  • May be UIA members (except for those holding official functions within the association).

The UIA Rule of Law Award in cooperation with LexisNexis is a symbolic prize that aims to acknowledge and publicise award-recipients for their commitment and actions. Since its creation, it has been successively awarded to the Malaysian Bar, in 2016; to Saidbek Nuritdinov, President of the Union of Advocates of the Republic of Tajikistan, in 2017; to the Honourable Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, in 2018; to French lawyer, Bertrand Favreau, President of the IDHAE, in 2019, and to European Lawyers in Lesvos, in 2020.
