The UIA’s commitment to the future – the Young Lawyers and In-house Counsels’ Network

Young lawyers are the future of our profession. These are the people who will shape the developments that define the legal landscape. Young members are future leaders, not only in law firms but also in business.

As one of the world’s leading associations of lawyers and in-house counsels, the UIA is committed to nurturing the development of its future leaders. Through a combination of events, seminars, webinars, mentoring programme and social events (sports, lunches and drinks) we want to provide the environment for or young members to enhance their skills, build their networks and generate success.

The other objectives of the NextGen Network are to identify, discuss and promote issues concerning young lawyers and in-house counsels around the world and within the organisation.

The Network meets at the Annual Congress every year, providing a forum for members to engage in interactive discussions on key legal developments, share their concerns and build their networks. Members are also able to participate throughout the year in the activities of the UIA’s 45 commissions. The NextGen Network also plays an active role in events outside the Annual Congress.

Members can also benefit from a unique mentoring programme to benefit from the advice and network of a senior UIA member lawyer. Find out more on the #UIAMentor Programme page.

The President of the NextGen Network is a member of the Executive Committee and the Governing Board, ensuring that the voices of young lawyers are heard at the highest level of the organisation.

The current President of the NextGen Network is Isidro Niñerola Torres, supported by Vice President Thomas Rudkin and Secretary, Bérangère Diot.
