INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION

Join the commission

The International Arbitration Commission is composed of lawyers who practice international commercial arbitration and international investment arbitration in different jurisdictions.

The Commission mainly focuses on the development of international arbitration law, in particular, new trends in arbitration law and practice.

It also works in co-operation with other commissions when its subject matter comes into play with other areas of law.

The Commission’s work is supervised by a Steering Committee made up of six members from different jurisdictions:

  • Álvaro López de Argumedo Piñeiro (President)
  • Veit Oehlberger (Vice-President)
  • Jane Willems (Communication Manager)
  • Laurence Kiffer
  • Patricia Ann Peterson

In addition to the annual UIA Congress programme, the Commission frequently organises and participates in UIA seminars on international arbitration and related topics.

Next event:
- 22-25 May 2024 - Bilbao (Spain)
7th edition of the seminar: Current Perspectives on International Arbitration (with simultaneous translation to Spanish, English and French)
Organised in cooperation with the Bilbao Bar Association and with the backing of the Civil and Commercial Arbitration Court of Madrid (Corte Civil y Mercantil de Arbitraje de Madrid (CIMA)).
