Séminaire UIA sur le bien-être – New York 2026. Le bien-être, une priorité stratégique pour la profession juridique

Exercice de la profession

In an era marked by complexity, uncertainty, and rapid transformation, the wellbeing of legal professionals is no longer a secondary or purely personal concern. It has become a strategic priority for the sustainability, credibility, and future of our profession. Law firms, in-house departments, and institutions worldwide are increasingly aware that technical excellence alone is not sufficient. Long-term performance depends on human resilience, psychological safety, ethical clarity, and the ability to navigate pressure without compromising integrity or health.

Against this backdrop, the second edition of the UIA Wellness Forum in New York represents an important opportunity for reflection and action. Building on the success of the 2023 event, the Forum will bring together international experts, practitioners, academics, and institutional representatives to explore holistic and forward-looking approaches to wellbeing in the legal world.

The programme is designed to be interactive and interdisciplinary. Rather than treating wellbeing as an abstract concept, the Forum will address concrete and pressing challenges faced by legal professionals across jurisdictions. Topics will include mental health in high-performance environments, vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue, organizational responsibility, leadership models, and the structural factors that influence stress and burnout.

Particular attention will also be given to the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on professional identity, workload management, and sustainable work cultures.

One of the core assumptions of the Seminar is that wellbeing is not the opposite of excellence. On the contrary, it is its foundation. A profession that neglects the human dimension risks eroding its own capacity to deliver justice, strategic advice, and meaningful representation. Conversely, a profession that invests in resilience, clarity, and healthy organizational structures strengthens not only individual lawyers but also the institutions they serve.

The New York Seminar aims to move the conversation from awareness to implementation. Through panels and open discussions, participants will have the opportunity to exchange best practices, compare regulatory and cultural approaches, and identify practical tools that can be adapted to different professional contexts. The presence of speakers from diverse legal systems will ensure a genuinely international perspective, consistent with UIA’s global mission.

This event is intended for every legal professional who believes that leadership today requires more than technical competence. It requires self-awareness, responsibility toward teams and clients, and the courage to rethink outdated models of productivity. A thriving profession is built on human strength, not on burnout. It is sustained by communities that support dialogue, innovation, and mutual accountability.
