Note from the editor - UIA News - Juin 2016

Dear colleagues,

This is one more issue of the UIA news. As usual we try to reflect on the various issues our profession has to deal with on a worldwide basis. There are lots of issues which are of great concern to us as lawyers: even though the Brexit primarily is a political decision, it nevertheless will have a great impact on legal work as well. Also it remains one of the greatest concerns for our association that many of our colleagues in many countries are under tremendous pressure and even facing personal consequences just for doing their work or, even worse, defending other people's rights.

The UIA deals with those issues on many different levels and we are both grateful for and proud of our members who have helped colleagues in those sometimes difficult and dangerous circumstances.

We will try to give more insight into the UIA internal affairs and have accordingly elaborated on the discussions that took place during the Executive Committee and the Governing Board meetings and will continue to do so.

We have in the past received more frequently voluntary articles to be published in the newsletter. We hereby want to thank the authors for their kind contributions and we can assure everybody that we try hard to publish all those articles.

Best regards,

Marcus Schriefers
