Dear Friends,

The UIA newsletter starting this year shall have a somewhat more structured content and I am once more asking all of you for your input, both on the structure as such but also providing contributions that would fit into this new structure.

We want to have the newsletter reflect a preview of most of the issues that are to come up within the UIA, from all the various perspectives our association represents.

This shall start with a preview of events organised by our commissions. It shall also include previews of seminars, so somewhat more detailed than what you get as an invitation from the UIA centre anyhow. A further topic will be an insight as to what is planned for the individual main themes taking place at the next Congress. We hereby want to encourage both participation in the events but also a reflection of the various contents which the UIA is offering.

Besides this we will continue our follow-ups on the defence of defence issues, including the Rule of Law project, and news from the UIA internally. Specifically here we would like to add one subject not yet covered, which is a profile of individual members of the Executive Committee and their role and task within the UIA. The idea here is that some of you may want to participate in the administration and planning of our association. We are specifically looking for younger members to join those groups!

We have also agreed to add one more topic to the newsletter, which is specific awards to our members and member firms. If you have news of an award which you have received and would like news about it to be published, please let us have a copy of the official award and give us the wording what you like to see as an introduction.

As we have been asked several times how a contribution to the newsletter should be structured, so let me repeat it again: the article as such should not be beyond 400 words. Please include a headline and one or two introductory sentences. The article as such plus headline and introduction should be in one of the three working languages, so English, French or Spanish. The article will be published in the original language, but headline and introductory sentences will be translated in the two other working languages that are why we are asking for this.

We are grateful for your comments and certainly even more grateful for your contributions.

Thank you very much in advance,

Marcus Schriefers
