Emirati Lawyer Mohammed al-Roken - 2017 Ludovic-Trarieux International Human Rights Prize

 
The 22nd Ludovic-Trarieux International Human Rights Prize was awarded to Mohammed al-Roken ( United Arab Emirates). 
 
The 27 European Lawyers of the Jury  met at the Academie de France, in Villa Medicis in Rome. They represented bars from Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Bordeaux, Brussels, Geneva, Paris, Roma, Luxemburg, Venice, Cracovia as well as the European Bar Human Rights Institute (IDHAE) and the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA - International Association of Lawyers).
 
The Jury stated that Mr. al-Roken has dedicated his last twenty years to the defense and promotion of human rights, highlighting their universality and indivisibility. 
For that reason, Mr. al-Roken has been sentence to 10 years in prison and banned from practising the legal profession.
