Presentación

The Forum of Mediation Centres was created in 2001 by the Mediation Commission of the UIA. It brings together the most important commercial mediation and ADR centres from around the world and offers an occasion to exchange views on the development of ADR and best practices. It is also an occasion for centres to collaborate on specific programmes.

The meeting in New York will be the 10th since the creation of the Forum.

This meeting is going to be exceptional. We have asked faculty of the Program On Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School to join us and teach us about the latest developments in the art of negotiation/mediation. Their programme is outstanding! All mediators who attend will surely gain new ideas and new tools to enhance their practices. Centres will want to make sure that their mediators have been educated in these new concepts to give a better service to their parties.

This is a unique opportunity for all to get acquainted with the work of some of the world leaders in research on negotiation and mediation. You can learn more by attending the seminar organised by Harvard Negotiation Insight Initiative just after the Forum.

To build on this introduction to the latest thinking and methods from the programme on negotiation, consider spending the week (or two!) right after this meeting at the Pon Summer Learning Forum at Harvard Law School. With a short, one-hour flight from New York to Boston, you can experience depth with new ideas and get a strong foundation to expand your practice. For more information, visit www.pon.harvard.edu/hnii.
All participants receive a certificate from the programme on negotiation at Harvard Law School.
Classes are from July 9-13 and July 16-20. An opportunity not to be missed!!!

CPR has prepared for us an exciting and unprecedented event by inviting corporate counsels of major multinational companies to discuss their policies regarding mediation. The clients’ perspective is always the most important one in a growing market!

We shall also go on with our research on “Breaking Barriers to Mediation” and our friend Jeffry ABRAMS will moderate what promises to be a fascinating discussion between representatives of some of the most significant centres in the world. Other centres will be encouraged to participate from the floor. As it is our tradition, every one will be most welcome to share their experiences and take profits of the experiences of others.

We strongly encourage lawyers, mediators and representatives of mediation centres to participate with other dispute resolution specialists in what promises to be an unforgettable Forum.
