The Future of Globalization: How technology and the pandemic are forever changing our health and food supply. Can legal paths ensure a safer tomorrow?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other technologies promise a brighter future with more people able to access improved healthcare and a better food supply across borders.
During the pandemic, the advancement of telehealth and other advanced technologies were instrumental in improving access to healthcare. While during this crisis, the role of regulatory agencies was to use a fast track method to approve necessary products, once we have the crisis behind us, what will be done to ensure the safety and efficacy of such products and services?
The pandemic also placed a strain on the world’s food supply. From an agri-food future perspective, AI and precision farming promise a future made of new breeding techniques and novel and more resistant varieties. These advancements promise food that is better able to tolerate climatic changes, fresher, locally grown, safer, and healthier. The concept of food as preventive medicine also reduces risks attributable to bad alimentation and eases the burden on public health systems.
Join us as we discuss the price the world will pay for such advancements. Is privacy doomed to extinction? Are individual rights to be sacrificed for the greater good of society? How can the law help or harm the future of healthcare and our food supply?
