PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL LAW

Join the commission

Private International Law is at the heart of cross-border legal relations. From international commerce to company law, as well as social rights, competition law and consumer protections, Private International Law provides the jurisprudence applicable to a dispute having an international dimension.

Any legal practitioner dealing with a matter involving more than his or her own jurisdiction needs to be familiar with Private International Law.

The Private International Law Commission attracts attorneys, law professors and corporate counsels of different sectors, willing to share their ideas and experiences with regards to many jurisdictions around the world.

The resulting exchanges are particularly enriching and important, as despite some harmonization, the diverse regional and national legal systems still have a strong influence on the resolution of conflicts of laws and jurisdictions.

The Commission is present in every UIA annual congress, either in single or in joint session on a wide range of subjects. In the working sessions, practical cases are proposed by the Commission’s speakers, who invite the audience to reflect on different issues in light of their knowledge and expertise. Afterwards time is reserved to debate on the most important points that have emerged.

The Private International Law Commission is pleased to welcome new members and is always interested in enhancing relevance and rigor of its programs.

The office of the Commission is at your disposal to provide further information about its activities.
