INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Join the commission

The Intellectual Property Commission aims to cover all aspects of Intellectual Property (trademarks, patents and utility models, plant variety rights, copyright, geographical indications, etc.). We are interested in the impact and challenges posed by Intellectual Property in the modern world, in relation to its exploitation via commercial contracts, licensing, franchising and its implementation. We also study why Intellectual Property is often a springboard for the commodification of rights in various sectors such as sports, fashion, agri-food, technology or advertising, to name but a few.

The commission contributes to the life of the UIA by participating in the main themes developed during the congresses and by organising specific sessions and seminars during the year. The importance of Intellectual Property in the world of business and research, the weight of intangible rights in the economy, means that we work in collaboration with other UIA commissions to share our experiences and our expertise in the sector and on various jurisdictions in order to share our knowledge within the UIA and thus deepen our mutual understanding and our expertise, which make us better lawyers every day.

The IP Commission is multicultural and multilingual

We welcome lawyers from all jurisdictions and we promote professional exchanges in all the UIA working languages.
