Cultural Property and International Crimes: Selected Practical Aspects

  • 01/02/2024 - 10:30 - 11:45
  • The Hague Marriott Hotel

Presentation

The issue of cultural property spoliated, pillaged or destroyed in the context of conflicts is ever more pressing and unavoidable. Various stakeholders are looking in a very concrete way at the relationship between international crimes and cultural property, including, for example the efficacy of using specialized police units and private institutions to search for looted works and the role of lawyers, prosecuting authorities, or insurance companies in the recovery process. It is through such various practical aspects that the intersection of art and cultural property and international crime will be addressed.
