Climate Change and Legal Risk Management

Climate change is becoming one of the most topical environmental issues. It particularly affects the health and food supply of the poorest people, who are struggling to emerge from a worldwide pandemic, and is a driving factor behind many migratory movements. Some regions of the world, such as Africa, are especially affected by water scarcity and recurring heat waves, which are now exacerbated by extreme rainfall trends and rising sea levels. This session, which is run jointly by the Insurance Law, Health Law and Agrifood Law Commissions, will explore the various legal aspects of the mitigation and management of climate risks by insurers in relation to health and agribusiness risks.
