Berlin Declaration on the UNIDROIT Principles

The UIA Union Internationale des Avocats is among the organisations endorsing the Berlin Declaration on the UNIDROIT - International Institute for the Unification of Private Law Principles of International Commercial Contracts.

The Declaration highlights the value of the UNIDROIT Principles as a neutral and effective tool to facilitate international contracting, cross-border trade and dispute resolution and aims to contribute to overcome the divide between different legal systems.

Building on the UIA's longstanding commitment to promoting these Principles, and following the recommendation adopted by its Executive Board in 2025, the UIA continues to support initiatives that help bridge legal traditions and provide practical solutions for international business.

By endorsing this Declaration, the UIA reaffirms its dedication to equipping lawyers worldwide with modern legal tools that contribute to legal certainty, efficiency and the rule of law in international commerce.
