The Singapore Convention, a Swallow Song Announcing the International Spring of Mediation?
#UIAMediation
Seminar presented by the UIA in cooperation with the Tunisian National Bar Association (Ordre National des Avocats de Tunisie), the Centre de Conciliation et d’Arbitrage de Tunis and with the support of the ICC**.**
The United Nations Convention on Mediation-related International Settlement Agreements (Singapore Mediation Convention) was a major international achievement in the field of out-of-court settlement of disputes, continuing to pave the way from an imposed to an increasingly negotiated international legal framework, with the stated objectives of facilitating international trade, promoting mediation as an effective alternative conflict resolution mechanism for commercial disputes, and providing security and stability to the international mediation regime.
For the first time in the world, an international seminar will be entirely dedicated to the analysis of this Convention, its modus operandi, its requirements, its limits, its interaction with national and regional regulations and with other international Conventions regulating alternative dispute resolution, particularly mediation. This seminar will also answer the question of whether this Convention will be the first light of the international dawn of mediation.
The seminar will be held in Tunis, Tunisia, the site of the advent of the Arab Spring, on September 22 and 23, 2023.
