Nara, an ancient capital even older than Kyoto, which served as Japan’s imperial capital for a thousand year, is filled with magnificent temples, shrines, and traditional gardens. During this excursion, we will visit Todai-ji Temple, famous for the world’s largest wooden structure and Japan’s largest Great Buddha; Kasuga Taisha Shrine, set in vast grounds where wild deer freely roam; Kofuku-ji Temple, renowned for its exceptionally beautiful Buddhist statues; and Horyu-ji Temple, home to the world’s oldest wooden buildings. For lunch, you will enjoy a traditional kaiseki meal at Edo San, an esteemed restaurant situated within Nara Park.
