Each year, July 17 marks the International Criminal Justice Day (ICJD) , which celebrates the anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute on July 17, 1998, the founding treaty of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
By bringing together all individuals who wish to support international justice, the ICJD is a reminder of the necessity for member states’ continued commitment to the Rome Statute and the general principles of the ICC. Only by expanding the scope of the ICC and by integrating new member states will justice prevail over the violation of rights and the constant threat to peace and security that it presents.
