International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women - 25 November

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the UIA Women's Committee reiterates and reaffirms its commitment to ensure that no women are ever again alone in the face of violence and to guarantee their effective and efficient access to justice.

During its working session at the UIA Annual Congress in Madrid, the Committee focused on violence against women and girls on social networks and its devastating and harmful consequences for the victims.

We call on Bar Associations and Legal Associations, members of the UIA, to conduct awareness campaigns on this subject and to set up structures to ensure legal support for victims and to preserve their rights.

We are also called upon, all of us, to mobilise and to unite our efforts to fight, in our countries, this violence and all kinds of violence that women and girls may suffer.

In this perspective, we will publish on 8 March 2022, during the seminar to be held in Paris to celebrate International Women's Day, the "Charter on the fundamental principles of access to justice for women victims of violence" drawn up by our Working Group.

Together we will succeed in protecting women and girls from all kinds of violence. If you are interested in participating in our Working Group, please send an email to elisabethsioufi[at]gmail.com
