Human Rights and Protection of Lawyers

1948-2018 - 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)

In 1948, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations. It sets out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected. It has been translated into 504 languages.

In 2018, the UIA joins the campaign "Standup4HumanRights" in a very particular way! The 30 articles of the UDHR have been read by participants of the UIA 62nd Congress in Porto, which gathered over a thousand lawyers from around the world.

Find out the articles of the UDHR in the UIA three working languages – English, French and Spanish -, but also in Arabic, Bambara, Bulgarian, Chinese, Danish, Hebrew, Lingala, Polish, Wolof....   all these languages reflect the diversity and multiculturalism that are a foundation of UIA for over 90 years!

One by one, the videos will be available on the UIA's social media - Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin - until the anniversary date of the UDHR on December 10, 2018, and on the UIA YouTube channel.

The UIA thanks LexisNexis warmly for its cooperation and involvement that made this project possible, and all the congress participants and UIA Members.
