The UIA is the world’s only multilingual, multicultural association with a global reach gathering lawyers and bar associations from all around the world. With around two million lawyers from more than 120 countries, through its individual members as well as its collective members (bar, federation and association), the UIA operates in three working languages: English, French and Spanish. It has also designated five other official languages: Arabic, German, Italian, Portuguese and Chinese.

The UIA brings together the world’s lawyers in a collegial atmosphere to learn, network, establish lasting contacts and defend the fundamental principles of the legal profession. The UIA offers endless ways to take advantage of your membership. Among the most popular are:

· Give an international dimension to the practice of your profession,

· Establish contacts and compare experiences with lawyers from more than 120 countries,

· Support the important work undertaken towards defending the legal profession in the world and the actions towards Human Rights.

· Be informed about changes to the Law and about its impact on the legal profession through our publications, such as our quarterly magazine, the Juriste International, and by actively taking part in the activities of the UIA Commissions and/or Working Groups, and our monthly newsletter,
